Cannot print unless an item is selected. Select an item and then try to print again. | Can’t print from Outlook – Fixed

Recently I came face to face with a very strange error in Microsoft Outlook. This error randomly appeared and I’m not quite sure what the root cause of it may be? The error portrays the following message below:

“Cannot print unless an item is selected. Select an item and then try to print again.”

Now; generally I checked the printer drivers and removed and re-added the printer and nothing came of it. Error still remained. However; this can be fixed by following the guide listed below:

(Note: Outlook stores its print settings in the Outlprnt file. If this file has become corrupted or is missing, you may not be able to print or change print settings in Outlook. To correct this situation, first restart Outlook. If the error persists, rebuild your Outlprnt file.)

1. Outlprnt file is located here in Win10 : AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Outlook

2. Right-click the Outlprnt file, and then click Rename.

3. Type a new name for the Outlprnt file, (such as Outlprnt.old), and then close Find.

4. Restart Outlook, and then try and print.
